DIR CAMP II – Blansko

It has been four years now since DIR-CZ started to organise DIR Camps – training in swimming pool in full gear. Second such a meeting of DIR divers took place in Blansko in January this year.
It was organised by Lada Hrouzek and Andrea Strakova, members
of DIR-CZ (Moravian „offset"). Both of them have longtime experience with DIR diving. They both participated in many GUE courses which successfuly completed (Lada – DIRFund and TECH 1, Andrea – DIRFund, Cave 1 and TECH 1).

The main goal of our two days meeting in Blansko was to familiarize with DIR Fundamentals basic techniques. Training started on Friday at 8 p.m. by inspection equipment of each diver. I must say that equipment was really varied. The condition of  participation in our DIR camps is wish to learn new things and obtain new experience, not just one mark of equipment how someone misinform. After settlement our diving gear and explaining reasons and advantages why this is better we entered the swimming pool in „kit-bag". Perfect trim was the base so we paid attention to proper buoancy control. Lukas Rodan from Tabor was demonstration example of this skill. He demonstrated perfect buoancy and trim with five stages (2x 80 cuft, 2x 7l Al and 1x 40 cuft). Saturday, in contrast to Friday was not so rest for most divers. Opening was at 10 a.m. and training lasted with short break to 7 p.m. We placed big emphasis on team cooperation and practise situation Out Of Air (OOA) above all.

Everything was filmed on the video camera which had lent us Petr Anelt. Each diver could obtain record on DVD with his/her underwater „performance". I must commend all of ten divers for their active concern and admire to try and accept new things. Thanks belongs to Lada and Andrea for organization this meeting and to Petr for lending the camera.

What to say at least? It is a shame that everyone who have been diving one year becomes instructor second year. Since there will be early noone to train with.  Everyone, say,  will know totally everything!

However, I say: „ If you want to verify your skills and obtain new knowledge and experience you should try to true GUE/NAUI DIR-PRO diving course. There is nothing giving gratis (not even for money) as each of  successful and unsuccessful participant can confirm".
